Briana performs in Barnett Cohen’s The Complaint Society, which premieres as part of the Brick’s Exponential Festival. Contextualized by our era of infinite Emergency, The Complaint Society documents and synthesizes a pixelated present of ruined meaning, anxious forces, neurotic tendencies, and looping violence. A range of urgencies–climate grief, state-sanctioned force, reparative justice, reproductive rights, systems of surveillance, the growing fascist theocracy in the US, and the memeification of political mood–appear and reappear in the performance as sirens, propositions of time travel, and calls to action. The show has a sold out run January 4-7th at the Brick!

As a film crew circles the scene—revealing the wild humor and grotesque secrets that lurk behind closed doors—these stories build to an unforgettable fever pitch in the face of an oncoming flood.
